I just wanted to update you in regards to the earthquake experiencedSaturday morning. Please be assured Amanjiwo and all staff are fine.
Theearthquake caused serious damage to areas further away from Amanjiwo. South yogyakarta, Bantul and coastal towns are the areas most badly affected.
All Amanjiwo hotel operations are running as normal and in fact on the same day we welcomed 21 outside guests for breakfast following their tour of Borobudur.
Yogyakarta airport is closed while they assess if there is serious damage but Solo and Semarang airports are still operating and in fact we expect the airport in Yogyakarta to be opened shortly.
With regard to the volcano Merapi, Amanjiwo is in a location away from any historical eruptions and lava flow and it has not, nor is it expected to be of any threat to Amanjiwo and the surrounding valleys.
This is of course a very tragic natural disaster for Java and as we learn
more details we will look into ways we can support efforts to assist and
restore the livelihood of these people so badly affected.
Should you have further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact myself
directly.
Best regards
